Stop Junk Mail!

Since I started recycling, I use a paper bag that I sometimes get from a grocery store to collect all papers. Every week, we receive sets of ads, but besides those, this paper bag is filled up with lots of junk mails! Most of them are letters of "You are Pre-Approved!"; the junk mails from credit card issuers...

It's so amazing that I receive about 4-5 of that type of mails every week (I am amazed because they never give up)

A few days ago, I finally found a solution to that (it was mentioned in one of featured story on Yahoo.com)

Call 888-5OPTOUT

This is it! It will remove your name from credit bureaus' mailing list. Unless you are planning to open more credit card accounts, taking this action will advantage in many ways, for example:

1. Fewer temptations to open the account (credit card abuse is never good)
2. It will cut the risk of an identity thief (thief steals your mails from mailbox/garbage can and apply for credit card in your name)
3. Reduce the paper consumption (less junk mail!)
   

If you change your mind, you can always ask them to put you back on the list. Also you can choose either opting out for 5 yrs or permanently. So just try it. Life will be a bit easier too (who loves junk mails anyway?!)

Note: Since you are talking credit bureaus, you'll have to provide your SSN, but it's OK.
