I was watching canadian news the other night (living so close to canada, only about 30min away, we can watch canadian channels here). And found out that one of city in Manitoba was banning all plastic bags in stores! I also found out that San Francisco is banning plastic bags as well.
According to the news here, San Francisco will be the first city in the nation to prohibit petroleum-based plastic bags in large markets and pharmacies. Biodegradable plastic and recyclable paper will be allowed.
This is a big step. To ban all plastic bags from the stores!! That will save lots of gallons of oil! I am always amazed how each state or city is very active and pass such a progressive legislation on their own. They don't wait for the government, they take an action! I really like that about this country!
